Following its October 2021 global launch, the game-changing Next Generation Outlander PHEV will arrive in New Zealand early 2022, bringing significant improvements to build on its class-leading status. These include:
52% extended EV range
45% greater battery capacity
Powerful new 185kW / 450Nm EV drive system
Outlander PHEV has been the clear leader in its class for several years and the next generation model improves its capabilities across the board. With an extended EV range - from 55km to 84km - and a 45% increase in battery capacity, the new Outlander PHEV will expand the horizons of adventure-loving families who want to go further without fuel.
With a full tank, which is 24% larger at 56L, the combined driving range is more than 50% further than the previous model.
Upgrades to the front and rear motors have resulted in a beefed-up 185kW maximum output (up from 130kW) with a hefty 450Nm of torque (up from 332Nm) for more powerful, efficient performance.
Starting at a special launch price of $59,990 + ORC ($54,240 + ORC once the Clean Car Discount is applied), the five-seat LS is equipped with dual zone climate control, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors and a 9-inch smartphone-link display audio screen, while the XLS offers seven seats, black synthetic leather upholstery, smartphone wireless charging and three zone automatic climate control.
The premium VRX comes equipped with memory leather seats, a BOSE sound system with nine speakers, 1500w AC power outlets, Multi-Around View Mirror, a kick tailgate and a 10.8-inch head-up dash display.
Reece Congdon, MMNZ Head of Marketing & Corporate Affairs, said:
“The PHEV concept remains one of the most viable options available for environmentally conscious motorists, especially in tandem with the Clean Car Discount.
“Outlander PHEV reduces the cost and footprint of fossil fuels for the family SUV; it has been the leader in its class for good reason, combining affordable efficiency, functionality and comfort with the backing of NZ’s best new car Diamond Advantage warranty – plus an 8-year / 160,000km battery warranty.
“We firmly believe the Next Generation Outlander PHEV will prove an even bigger hit and we are encouraged by the response to our online pre-order platform, launched in October, through which we have already sold more than 100 units before the vehicle's arrival next year.”
Pre-orders are now available from the Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand website.
